That is the standard for back protectors. The knees also carry replaceable TPU sliders. Take the armor out before you clean the lining, and place it back in the pockets before you ride.

The cowhide is drum-dyed, which sends color deep into the hide, and milled, which means tumbled to make it softer. Each suit is stitched by hand and made to order.
