FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Go to the Size options and select Custom Size. Finish checkout to get your order number. Then fill in the measurement form: add the number and your body measurements. You will enter sleeve length, external leg length, crotch to ground, height, chest girth, waist, hip and waist length (down the back from the collar). For help with the tape, read how to measure.
EN 1621-1:2012 is a European test for limb armor. Level 2 armor takes in more force than Level 1. In this suit, removable Level 2 armor sits at the shoulders, elbows, knees and hips. You can take it out to wash the lining. EN 1621-2 is the test for back protectors, and the back pocket is made to fit one. Hard metal protectors also cover the shoulders and knees.
Cowhide is the base leather. Here it is drum-dyed, milled and 1.2 to 1.3 mm thick. It is tough and resists scrapes. Kangaroo leather is lighter for its strength, so the suit feels less heavy. Monaco leather is a third choice. You pick the leather at order. The armor, the protectors and the black, red and white graphics stay the same with each choice.
A one-piece suit has no gap at the waist, so many track riders pick it. A two-piece suit lets you wear the jacket on its own. Silver snap buttons sit on the two-piece suit pants. You can also order just the jacket or just the pants. To compare other split styles, see the
two-piece race suits
. All versions have the same armor.
After a ride, wipe the leather with a soft, damp cloth. Take the armor out and let the suit dry at room temperature, away from a heater. A light leather conditioner keeps the cowhide soft. Store the suit on a wide hanger. Check the knee sliders and replace them when they wear thin. More race suits are on the motorcycle race suits page.
