Buying Guidance
How do I choose the right year? Use the season table below. It shows his team, bike and finishing place for each year.
How do I get the right fit? Check the size chart first. Every suit and jacket also has a Custom Size option. The made-to-measure page shows how it works.
Start with the year you remember most. His Castrol Honda designs are inspired by 2002, the year he won his second World Superbike title. There is also a suit from the 2002 Suzuka 8 Hours race. The Aprilia design comes from his 2003 MotoGP pre-season test. The camo suit is inspired by his last MotoGP season in 2014. Each product page names its year and shows the full colors. The season table on this category helps you compare years.
Standard sizes follow a set size chart. Custom Size lets you send your own body numbers, such as chest, waist, sleeve and inseam. The suit or jacket is then cut to those numbers. This helps if you fall between two sizes or want a close race fit. Every Colin Edwards suit and jacket offers Custom Size. Before you order, read the how to measure guide so each number is taken the right way.
The race suits offer three leathers at order: cowhide, Monaco leather and kangaroo leather. The base hide is 1.2-1.3 mm cowhide. Kangaroo leather is lighter than cowhide for the same strength, so some riders pick it for track use. Monaco is a third option on the same suits. The jacket comes in cowhide. Each product page shows which leathers that item offers. If you are not sure which to pick, ask the customer service page team.
You can choose a speed hump: none, standard, ventilated or hydro. You can also choose the perforation: none, chest, front or full. Holes let more air in on hot days. Suits can add a removable lining, a thermal lining or an extra knee slider. You can also add matching boots or gloves to the same order. Each suit is hand-stitched to order, so all of these are set when you order.
Wipe the suit with a damp cloth after each ride to remove dirt and bugs. Let it dry on a wide hanger at room temperature, away from heaters and direct sun. Use a leather conditioner from time to time so the leather stays soft. Do not put the suit in a washing machine. Store it in a cool, dry place with room to breathe. The leather care instructions give more tips on cleaning and storage.
