The kilt is made from distressed cowhide leather, 1.1 to 1.2 mm thick. The distressed finish gives the surface a worn, aged look from the start. Inside, a satin lining feels smooth against the skin. Two straps cross the front and close with buckles. The standard color is black, and you can also pick brown, tan or white.
There are no fixed sizes. When you order, you enter three numbers: your waist, your hip and the kilt length you want. The kilt is then cut and hand-stitched to those numbers. Measure over light clothing with a soft tape. For the length, measure from your waist down to where you want the hem to sit. Add any notes in the Order Instructions box.
The two front buckles come in four finishes: silver chrome, gold chrome, gunmetal or antique brass. Silver chrome is bright and plain. Gold chrome is warmer in tone. Gunmetal is a dark grey. Antique brass has an aged look that suits the distressed leather. Pick your finish in the Accessories menu when you order. The straps give about 1 inch of play once fitted.
Do not machine wash the kilt or soak it in water. Wipe surface marks with a soft, dry cloth. For a deeper clean, take it to a leather dry-cleaner who works with distressed finishes.
