The kilt is not sold in fixed sizes. When you order, you enter three numbers: your waist, your hip and the kilt length you want. The kilt is then cut and hand-stitched to those numbers. Measure your waist where you plan to wear the kilt. Measure your hips at the widest point. For length, measure from the waist down to where you want the hem, often the middle of the knee.
Each side has a leather strap with a metal buckle. The straps give about 2 inches of play at the waist and hips. That lets you loosen the kilt after a big meal or tighten it if you lose weight. You can choose the buckle finish: silver chrome, gold chrome, gunmetal or antique brass. Gold or brass looks warm next to brown leather. Silver or gunmetal gives a cooler look.
