Cowhide is a thick, firm leather. It holds up well to rubbing on the bars and to daily use. On these gloves it is 0.8-0.9 mm thick, which keeps the fingers easy to bend. It also softens and shapes to your hand after a few rides. Cowhide is easy to clean with a damp cloth. For city riding and commuting, it gives a good mix of strength and feel.
Use a soft tape. Wrap it around your palm just below the knuckles, leaving the thumb out. Note that number. Then measure from the crease of your wrist to the tip of your middle finger. Match both numbers to the glove size chart. The sizes go from XS to 3XL. If you fall between sizes, pick the one that matches your palm width.
The vents sit in the rubber guard over the knuckles. There is an air intake at the front and an exhaust port behind it. As you ride, air flows in through the intake and out through the port. This helps your hands stay cooler on warm days and in slow city traffic. The rest of the glove is solid cowhide with an aramid lining.
After a ride, let the gloves air-dry at room heat. Do not use a hair dryer or heater, since heat can crack the leather. Wipe dirt off with a soft, damp cloth.
