Frequently Asked Questions

It depends on which part of his career you like most. The 2005 and 2006 suits use his Suzuki colors from AMA racing. The 2009 suit comes from his World Superbike year with Yamaha. The 2011 and 2012 suits come from his MotoGP years with Yamaha. Blue and white run through most designs. Each product page names its year, team and series, so check the photos before you choose.
A two-piece suit splits at the waist into a jacket and pants. Many riders like it for the road, since the jacket can be worn on its own off the bike. A one-piece suit has no gap at the waist and is the usual pick for the track. Every suit in this range can be ordered either way. You can also order only the jacket or only the pants.
Pick Custom Size from the size menu on the product page. Then measure yourself at home with a soft tape, with help from a friend if you can. The how to measure guide shows each point to measure, from chest to inseam. Your numbers go in with the order, and the suit pattern is cut to them. This helps riders who fall between standard sizes.
A speed hump is the raised shape on the back of a race suit, just behind the helmet. It is part of the classic race suit shape. Every Ben Spies suit lets you pick no hump, a standard hump, a ventilated hump or a hydro hump. You pick it in a menu when you order. Perforation is set at the same time: none, chest, front or full.
Clean the suit gently after each ride with a damp cloth, starting with bugs on the front. Let it dry slowly at room temperature, never next to a heater. Store it on a broad hanger in a cool, dry closet. Take out the removable lining, if you have one, and wash it as its label says. Treat the leather with balm a few times a year. The leather care instructions explain more.
