EN 1621-1 is the European standard for impact protectors on the arms and legs. In that standard, Level 2 armor lets less force pass through than Level 1 armor. On these pants, removable Level 2 armor sits at the knees and hips. On the outside, TPU sliders cover the knees. Armor adds a layer of safety, but no riding gear can stop every injury.

Milled cowhide is cowhide that is tumbled in a drum after tanning. This softens the leather and gives it a light grain. On these pants it is 1.1 to 1.3 mm thick, which keeps it strong but easy to bend. With stretch panels and comfort zones at the waist and above the knee, the pants move with you when you ride. The leather also softens more with wear.
Yes. The knee and hip armor is removable, so you can take it out to clean the lining or to try the fit. Riding without armor gives less impact protection, so put it back in before you ride. The TPU knee sliders on the outside are replaceable too. When they wear down, new sliders can be fitted and the pants stay in use.
Wipe off dust with a soft, dry cloth. For marks, use a damp cloth with a little mild soap, then let the pants dry at room temperature. Keep them away from heaters and strong sun. Use a leather conditioner now and then to keep the cowhide soft. Take the armor out before you clean. For spare knee sliders, contact the customer service page.
