Nubuck is cowhide with its outer surface lightly sanded. This gives it a soft, velvety feel, a bit like suede. Nubuck comes from the outer side of the hide, so it keeps more strength than suede. On this coat the cowhide is 0.9 to 1.0 mm thick. That keeps a long coat soft enough to move well. The nap can shift when you brush it, which is normal.
Here is how it works. Select Custom Size in the Size options on the product page. After you complete checkout, you receive an order number. Next, enter that number and your body measurements in the measurement form. Have your height, chest girth, waist and waist length, which is measured down the back from the collar ready. Yes. You can order the coat with no lining, a regular lining, or a sublimated lining. Sublimated means a printed design is set into the fabric. If you choose it, you can upload your own artwork when you order. A monogram, a pattern or a photo you own all work. The standard satin lining feels smooth and helps the coat slide over a sweater.
Brush the coat often with a soft nubuck brush. This lifts dust and keeps the nap even. Use a nubuck eraser on small marks. Keep water and harsh cleaners away from the leather.
