Cowhide comes from cattle hides. It is tough and holds its shape well. At 0.9-1.0 mm, this hide feels sturdy but still bends at the knee and hip. It does not crease as fast as thinner leather. Over time, the surface softens and forms a light patina, which is a soft sheen from wear. Small marks in the grain are normal in real hides.
Wipe the pants with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth after you wear them. Do not put them in a washing machine, and keep bleach and strong cleaners away. Let them dry at room temperature, away from heat. Use a leather conditioner now and then to keep the hide soft. Hang them in a cool, dry place out of the sun.
