Cowhide is thicker and tougher than lambskin. This jacket uses natural cowhide, 1.1-1.3 mm thick. That is strong enough to stand up to daily wear, yet it still bends at the elbows and shoulders. Lambskin feels softer but marks more easily. Natural cowhide has no heavy coating, so it softens and darkens a little as you wear it. Many
use cowhide for the same reason.
Pick Custom Size in the size menu and finish checkout. You then get an order number. Open the measurement form and type in that number. Add your chest, waist, sleeve and shoulder sizes, plus any notes on fit. Ask a friend to help you measure, and wear a thin shirt. The jacket is then cut and hand-stitched to your sizes.
It has several ways to let air in. The action back is perforated, which means it has many small holes. Two vents sit on the sleeves and two more on the pockets, each backed with mesh. The sleeve cuffs zip fully open. You can also choose no lining for a lighter jacket. On cold days, the removable quilted lining adds warmth.
You can choose no lining, a regular lining or a sublimated lining. No lining keeps the jacket light. A regular lining feels smooth over a shirt or sweater. A sublimated lining is printed with a design you upload when you order. Every option comes with the same black cowhide shell and antique brass hardware. You can pick the lining for a standard size or a Custom Size.
Wipe the jacket with a soft, dry cloth after you wear it. Rub in a leather conditioner now and then, using a clean cloth in small circles. Then buff off what is left.
